For this photoshoot, I plan to create images that both aesthetically and conceptually resemble Taylor Swift's 'reputation' album. With having a strong snake motif, I plan to use props such as snake jewellery which I already have to use, I also have a number of vinyl records that I think would work for the aesthetic. Regarding lighting, the shadows are what really make this album's images stand out and feel cohesive and dramatic, so silhouette lighting, rim lighting, and split lighting, are my focuses in this shoot. Silhouette and rim will create that mysterious and hidden illusion which despite the album being so confrontational, the build up towards it was very hidden away, mysterious and almost secretive. So then split lighting is where I will achieve the strong contrasts of light and shadow. Additionally, newspaper and headlines are a big theme in this album and so I plan to use that in some way to draw reference to the original album cover and also a number of songs on the album. To create images that are cohesive to the album without directly copying, I want to draw inspiration from the song lyrics as well as the obvious album theme to create more detailed and original photos that still represent the album as a whole. Regarding the songs, there is a song that references a telephone, a song that references New Years Day, and also a number of songs referencing black & white, darkness, and gold. So I plan to use these smaller motifs and lyric references to create more original images.
