This was a spontaneous photoshoot as i saw the sun setting from my bedroom window and the orange glow that it was creating. Despite the composition and angle not following the low pattern i've been focusing on during this project, i still feel that these images fit as this is a view i have had my whole life - out my bedroom window - and i made sure to photograph out of it from the height i would've been looking out of it from as a child. I decided to use the orange filter to enhance the golden hour and also create a starburst flared light effect on the sun. The filter also helped with exposure, allowing me to capture the sun and the trees without either being over or under exposed. I like the effect that the filter has created and it is reminding me of the work of Uta Barth who i researched for this project, specifically the ways she uses light and blur in her images. The images are not perfectly focused and the light is taking over a lot of the frame but you are still able to make out what is in the image. I think they also work on the aesthetic side of my work, creating a nostalgic and faded mood and feeling like memories. Something i wish i did is go outside and experiment capturing these photos from the ground to continue with the angles that i've been using, however, i think the window perspective does work aesthetically and conceptually due to it being my bedroom window. I experimented with using different amounts of the filter and moving it around to achieve different saturations. I found that i prefer the middle ground where there is an orange tone but not too heavy. I plan to edit my favourites in lightroom and focus on colour grading - balancing out the saturation and also dehazing the images to enhance the faded and old effect.
