initial ideas
My idea for this project and to show time on location is to focus on childhood memories as inspiration to create nostalgic and narrative based images. I think this is a good way of showing the concept of time within a location as locations hold a lot of memories, whether it's their memories or a person who has been there's, they show change over time - structurally and conditionally, they also have the possibility of staying exactly the same as the people who have been there continue to grow and change and remember. I plan to go to locations that are specific to me and those that i have memories of in order to try and capture the nostalgia i feel around them and hopefully then allow the viewer to feel the same way even if they have never been. I think things like props will help me tell a more convincing or obvious narrative - things like leaving old shoes in the frame, or maybe time stamping the images to show that progression. I also plan to shoot from a low angle to capture a child's perspective and solidify the narrative i'm attempting to tell. With this will come challenges as i have a very specific style when shooting and always aim for the perfect image, however, with shooting low down, i imagine i will often think that the photo would look better from a different angle, however i will have to work around this as childhood memories are often not perfect - they are often blurry in place, light leaking, and partial.
