For this photoshoot i went to Newmillerdam and photographed the scenery with intentions of capturing child-like memories. I shot elements such as the lake, reflections in the lake, birds and animals, woodlands, and more. I think it was fairly successful although i didn't get the total nostalgic feel that i was going for. I didn't take any props with me as the day i had planned to go, the weather changed and started to rain, therefore i went the next day and was in a rush to leave and get there before any more rain started. Despite this, i do feel that my final images match the aesthetic i was going for in some ways - they are all shot from a low angle to mimic the height of a child and i focused on interesting elements like animals and water. I did take the orange filter with me and used it for some shots, however i found that the lighting was already quite orange that day and i didn't want it to be too overpowering. I did also experiment with aperture, especially when capturing swans/ducks and i have achieved a sharp focus on them with a more blurred background which is what i intended to do and i think that helps pull focus onto key elements of a child's memories and additionally, make for better photos.

When editing, i focused on colour grading and instead of turning every image orange, i depended the finish on what was in the photo, for example, with trees i wanted them to be vibrant whether they were green, red or yellow, i enhanced their original colours, additionally, i used the dehaze tool to drastically decrease that and create a more hazy and faded image as i thought that better fit my idea and the artists' work that i have looked at and been inspired by. Throughout the shoot i did ensure i was using the rule of thirds and while editing i experimented with this by sometimes changing the aspect ratio and cropping to solidify the rule of thirds in my photos even further and create a balanced image and enhance the idealised images that come with memories.

I definitely ran into some challenges during this shoot, mainly forgetting the props which would've better conveyed the story i'm telling, and also problems regarding the weather. However, i am satisfied with the end result, i think i can definitely improve upon these images and create a more convincing narrative - particularly by using props and continuing with the low angle even more, additionally, i think one of my weaknesses with this specific project is that i am very focused on creating perfect images - whether it be perfectly framed, angled, or composition wise, i have a personal style that i always default to and this project is far from that so i think letting myself create different results and following different steps when editing will help solidify the narrative behind this project and help me better convey the idea.
