For this photoshoot, I experimented with photographing food in a product/advertising style. I started with photographing a collection of fruits as a whole and tried out different lighting, angles, and compositions. I used an infinity table to minimize background distractions and emphasise the product aspect. These images were okay, but I definitely think with more practice they could turn out better and more convincing. I then cut up some of the fruit into slices to arrange on a board for an overhead shot, I prefer these images to the first ones as I feel that they are more interesting and more visually pleasing. I started with just oranges, lemons, and limes to capture their harmonising colours together, then added pomegranate to add a pop of a bolder colour and additional textures. I struggled with getting a perfect overhead view and ended up with slightly angled images after standing on a chair to try and reach the view. I also experimented with a shallow depth of field and capturing the fruits from close up to capture more details and allow the viewer to focus on one thing instead of the whole board. After this, I also used the light box with an orange slice to try and capture different textures and more intricate details, before experimenting with the interesting shadows that a pineapple creates. Overall, I would say that this shoot went okay, it was my first time photographing food in a product style, or any style at all, so I definitely have a lot to learn with this specific subject however, it was interesting to experiment with different compositions and explore which resembled an advertisement the most.
