For this task, I chose two of my images to use in the darkroom. I decided to invert the image of the road sign to create a positive image in the darkroom and left the swan images as a positive in order to experiment with creating a negative. I enjoyed doing this, and found it interesting to watch the photo develop step by step. The first print I did was the road sign on the left and I used a 3 second exposure which I found was slightly too long as I didn't want the image to be as dark as it was, I then tried again with a 1 second exposure and found that I liked that result. I also like the effect printing with a positive had on the swans - turning them black instead of white - however, some opportunities that I have for improvement with this process is definitely framing the paper and acetate image better. The images and especially the swan image, have wonky borders and a lot of negative space around them - for this I could've made more use of the red light filter on the light to pre-plan where my image would be printed and adjust the machine for a better size that filled the paper. I also didn't think about the fact that the images needed vertically flipping before I printed them as now they are inverted, however, now I know for next time where I hopefully get better results.
