For this photoshoot i plan to go to Newmillerdam and focus on capturing lake/woodland scenes. This particular location is one i visited often as a child and therefore, it is a familiar and nostalgic place for me. My intention is to capture images that represent this feeling and allow the viewer to share the same nostalgia for the place even if they have never been there. To do this, i plan on using techniques such as shooting from a low angle - this will give the impression that it is a child's viewpoint and emphasise the memory aspect, additionally, i intend to experiment with aperture during this shoot to capture different depths of field and bring focus to certain elements in the photos as i think this will enhance the child-like perspective and allow the viewer to see what is important in their eyes through what is in focus/ out of focus in each scene. I also plan on taking a film camera to this location as i think that the film finish will give a dated and old look to the photos which is perfect for my idea. I also plan to focus on things that a child would particularly be interested in and would look at when there - things such as animals and birds in the water, looking up towards treetops, and also coloured leaves. I plan to go around mid afternoon as i want to capture the sun reflecting on the lake and also utilise golden hour as it comes in around 4pm this time of year. I think using the sun as natural lighting will emphasise the vibrant and golden aesthetics often associated with nostalgia and memories. In addition to the film camera, i plan on taking my digital camera to shoot alongside and using an orange filter on that to carry on my experimentation with filters and also using techniques such as changing the white balance on my camera to ensure i achieve that orange finish before i get to the post-processing phase. I have planned a day to go where the weather is good, not raining and hopefully not too cloudy, and i also intend on taking props with me such as old shoes, or possibly an old glove and placing them in the frame. This is to enforce the narrative of childhood and by placing these elements in the frame i intend to show the idea that even revisiting this place as an adult, a different version of myself has been here too and that is what i intend to capture within my images.
